Manal Murangi (she/they) is a passionate Egyptian-Namibian visual artist raised on Piscataway Conoy land in Silver Spring, Maryland. Her multi-cultural background, as well as their upbringing in the suburbs of Washington DC, introduced her to the multitudes of stories and perspectives both within her community and across the globe.

Working across digital photography, film photography, and video, Manal’s pieces are driven by curiosity and desire to explore connections between humanity and nature. Her photography focuses on intimate and unique moments in time while her video portfolio explores complex topics such as Black food sovereignty, GenZ’s climate anxiety, and ocean exploration.

Manal is currently pursuing a Masters degree in Marine Affairs and Documentary Cinematography at the University of Rhode Island, working under the advisement of environmental anthropologist Dr. Amelia Moore, and environmental justice filmmaker Dr. Kendall Moore.
